演讲题目: Significant Opportunities for Solar energy Technologies in the Global Energy Transformation
演讲时间:  5月27日

Dr. Renné has served as President of the International Solar Energy Society since 2010. From 1991 until his retirement in 2012 Dr. Renné managed the solar resource assessment activities at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Since 2012 he is a Senior Consultant to Clean Power Research, a small U.S. Company that develops resource assessment and analytical software tools to support large-scale grid connected solar energy systems, and a consultant to the World Bank, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Asian Development Bank, and others. He is an Associate Editor of the Solar Energy Journal.
演讲摘要: As the world strives to achieve climate mitigation goals as well as to meet the Sustainable Development Goal #7 as stipulated by the United Nations, we are finding that a significant transformation in our energy system, including the power, heat and transport sectors, is taking place. What’s more, the steep decline in the capital costs and cost of energy from renewable energy technologies has become a dominant drive in this energy transformation. This talk will focus on various options that are available, not only at regional and national levels but especially at the grassroots level, for a long-term continuation of the rapid growth of solar energy technologies as a major part of the renewable energy deployments that are foundational to this energy transformation. Besides resulting in a totally decarbonized energy system by the end of this century, the transformation also needs to achieve energy access and security, and economic growth and stability, to all populations. Recent developments to meet the technical challenges associated with large-scale renewable energy deployments in the power sector, such as energy storage and grid resiliency, where it is demonstrated that solar technologies can play an important role to provide significant capacity and at the same maintain a stable and reliable energy supply, will be presented.
